Welcome to Shaggy Acres Old English Sheepdogs! We strive to raise, healthy happy quality companions. We have many wonderful people, who have joined our Sheepdog family, some families have two or three or our puppies and come from around this great country.
I would like to tell you how the Old English Sheepdog, first came into our family. In 1989, my husband found an ad in the local newspaper for a year old bobtail, the family had a new baby, they found was allergic to dogs, so naturally the dog had to go. Since he was a youngster and saw the movie, “The Shaggy Dog”, had dreams of having an Old English. We were fortunate enough to add “Boo” to our family. Boo fit into the family with no problem and was the perfect companion for our two sons. In 1995 we added Casey, a petit little girl to our sheepdog family, immediately Boo taught her the ropes and she became the Diva of the family. Anyone who shares their life with an Old English, will tell you, that like a certain chip, you just can’t have one. In 1997 Casey had her first litter of 12 puppies and we decided to add Pete, patch on one eye and a mischievous personality. I loved the breed so much and wanted to share the love and joy of the bobtail, I had decided to breed Old English Sheepdogs, with the idea of a well rounded, quality companion for others to enjoy. Shelby, Morgan, Hannah, Blue ,Becca and Newie followed. Please note, not all are still being used for breeding, when they reach a certain age, they retire and live out their lives with us on our farm.
Well aware of the overpopulation and unwanted dogs, I have added a “NO BREED” and return contract for each puppy. When you read the contract, you will understand the responsibility I feel toward each and every puppy whelped at Shaggy Acres.
